Here's a space for those of you who attended this Midwest meeting last week to chime in about what grabbed your attention. What was the buzz in panels or hallway conversation about the political behavior field? Any new topics out there? Controversies? Dead lines of inquiry? Post your thoughts in the comment section.

Dean Lacy presented an updated version of his work on explaining why Republican-leaning states in 2000 and 2004 were ones that received more federal tax funds than they spent. I can't really do the paper justice since I haven't read it, but I can tell you it sounded fascinating.
The panel devoted to Huckfeldt, Johnston, and Sprague's book focused quite a bit on how it compared to the new book by Diana Mutz on the same subject. I suspect that this debate will get quite a bit of attention in the next few years.
